It has been announced that Eminem will be headlining both the Reading and Leeds festivals in 2013.

Last year the festivals took advantage of Glastonbury's hiatus by hosting a stellar lineup including, to name but a few, The Cure, Foo Fighters and Kasabian, with Green Day also performing a secret set at Reading. But now that Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis is making arrangements for the festival's return in 2013, Reading and Leeds are once again in competition with the Worthy Farm event. Their naming of Eminem as a headliner, however, which surely give a huge boost to ticket sales.

The only other acts that have been announced thus far are Deftones, Sub Focus, Boy Better Know and Mercury Prize winners Alt-J. Both festivals are to take place across the 23rd to the 25th of August, with tickets on sale at the same price as last year, £197.50, for a limited time only (December 31st). However, a welcome deposit scheme has been introduced, which means that festival-goers can pay £50 now, before paying the full amount by March 31st, 2013.

Both Reading and Leeds 2013 will feature three new stages, with organiser Melvin Benn stating that "there will be quite a bit more dance music".
