Kendrick Lamar was the icing on the hilarious cake that was The Lonely Island's return to SNL on Saturday, as host Adam Levine (of Maroon 5) led the group through a hypochondriac hijacking of the popular catchphrase "YOLO" in its first Digital Short of the season.
The painfully annoying catchphrase, which stands for "you only live once," had begun to pass quietly into the douchey night of Amerian culture. But now it's been revived in a full bloom of neurotic paranoia, and gloriously so, on the jam everyone's going to be singing this week.
"Don't go to loud clubs because it's bad for your ears," goes the flow. "Your friends will all be sorry when they can't hear. Stay the hell away from drugs because they're not legal. Bury all your money in the backyard like a beagle."
Idiocy at its finest. In related news, Levine certainly held his own as host, though his reliance on cue cards was annoying. Kendrick Lamar's performances were fantastic, on the other hand.
