Country music star Mindy McCready has been found dead from an apparent suicide on Sunday, according to various sources. She was 37 years old.
The singer, whose personal turmoil made headlines far more than any of her music in recent years, reportedly took her own life with a self-inflicted gunshot.
Just a little over a month ago, McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, died at the age of 34. No cause of death or details surrounding his passing were revealed, and his demise remains under investigation, though suicide has been often referenced.
"Since boyfriend (David Wilson) shot himself she has been in bed for 3 wks," McCready's father said in court documents connected to a court order demanding her entry into a treatment facility. "Sleeps all day. Drinks all night and is taking Rx drugs. Not bathing or even helping take care of her 2 children."
In agreeing to McCready's "involuntary admission" to an appropriate facility, the judge wrote that "there is cause to find there is clear and convincing evidence that Respondent is in imminent danger of harm to herself or others, suicidal or gravely disabled."
According to TMZ, McCready's two children were removed from her home by a judge on February 6, and she was committed to a to a treatment facility for a mental-health and alcohol-abuse evaluation. It was only the latest of many trips to rehab (one visit of which being a stint on the vulturous "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew"), and she left the facility only two days into treatment.
McCready had also previously attempted suicide in both 2005 and 2008.
