On The Rise: Flume Announces National Tour

Aussie electronic musician Flume is taking advantage of a meteoric rise to fame in 2012 by announcing a national tour beginning in late April.

The young production genius had a ridiculous 2012- he was a monster in Triple J’s Hottest 100 as the highest-polling artist and most-repped artist overall and dominated the ARIA charts, doing us all a favour by dumping Bieber from the top spot after 12 weeks at No.2, with his self-title debut album.

Flume will take the ‘Infinity Prism Tour’ to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth during April and May (tickets go on sale March 1) and will be joined by recent collaboration partner Chet Faker. Faker has a new EP, Thinking in Textures EP, and the two recently released the track ‘Left Alone’. The tour will stop at some massive venues including Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion and Melbourne’s Festival Hall.

The self-titled ‘Flume’ album was released in the US and UK this week and has received brilliant reviews from publications including The Line of Best Fit, The Guardian and Q Magazine.

In addition to touring with Groovin’ The Moo in May, Flume will also appear at SXSW and Golden Plains.

Flume on his rise to fame in October (via inthemix): “Seeing the audience at Splendour [2012] – simply because of the sheer size of it – it was like a confirmation that what I’m doing, that people are actually into it,” he said. “Because I’ll put out a song and it will get 70,000 plays, but to actually see that many people in front of me and getting into it is like a physical recognition that this actually is happening – seeing it is believing it. I hear all these statistics but to actually see a crowd in front of me knowing all the songs was pretty mind-blowing.”
