A number of performers have been added to the line-up for the Calgary Folk Music Festival, including the new up-and-coming band Alabama Shakes.

The event, which takes place in July, will see other musicians take to the stage including poet Anthony Joseph and Spasm Band, songstress Rachel Sermanni, Cousin Harley, and more. Announcements will continue through till April announcing the full spectrum of singers (up to 70 in total) who will be a part of the yearly iconic music event in Calgary. Tickets for the fest go on sale as of April 25th.

Alabama Shakes will headline the first night of the festival – they've been getting tremendous response to their debut album, Boys & Girls, and recently shared the stage with Elton John and Mumford & Sons at The Grammy Awards. Their show in Calgary is part of a longer summer tour, which includes stops in Louisville, Edmonton (at the Interstellar Rodeo), and Porto, Portugal.

The Calgary Folk Music Festival runs from July 25-28. Visit their official website for more info.
