It appears that Snoop Dogg's run-through of his seminal debut album Doggystyle in his headlining slot at this year's Rock The Bells festival was more than just a nostalgia trip; the Long Beach rapper has announced plans for Doggystyle 2: The Doggumentary - a sequel to the 1993 classic.
Via a Twitvid, Snoop revealed to fans that he and producer Swizz Beatz have been in the studio, working on 18 new tracks for the album. The New York producer (and Alicia Keys' husband) had given him a wide range of tracks that called back to the superstar's grittier spitting era.
“Motherfucker gave me some gangsta shit, some Crip shit, some R&B shit, some hip-hop shit, some hard shit, some mean shit,” he said. Kanye West, pictured below, was also in the studio - it's a safe bet he'll appear somewhere on the record.

"That's how we used to do it back in the day," said Swizz of the number of track laid out for the release. "It used to be about the sound, not the single. So right now, we constructing sounds for the album."
The forthcoming album will be Snoop's 11th, following his 2009 album Malice N Wonderland, which dropped in December 2009. It ranked as the lowest debut numbers of his career, selling only 59,000 copies in its first week. However, the album went on to sell upwards of 400,000 units.
