Thom Yorke Co-hosts BBC Radio Show

Yorke talks Radiohead, collaborations, solo work & much more.

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, who's just been announced on the Coachella 2010 bill, co-hosted Gilles Peterson's radio show on BBC Radio 1 yesterday (Wednesday), discussing the state of Radiohead, his own solo career and various collaborations he has planned.

You can listen to the two-hour show at the BBC for the next five days, and if you're a fan of the wonk-eyed musician, I highly recommend it. Yorke and Peterson shared a laptop and a pair of headphones to give us the goods between various dubstep tracks:

"Radiohead is still doing stuff. In fact, we're starting another session for a month in two days," Yorke said. "And the Eraser band that I got together, we're going to do something, hopefully in April, but I think that's just more gigs. And then maybe that'll lead somewhere, as well. There's lots of stuff going on, but not enough coming out yet...My biggest trouble at the moment is trying to keep up, but I prefer it that way."

The Eraser band Yorke mentions includes Nigel Godrich and Flea, as well as Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco. They'll join Thom onstage this April at Coachella.

On the show, Yorke also discussed plans he once had to work with producer Madlib, saying that Madlib sent him beats but the project never took flight because "the timing was crap". A remix from the sessions was salvages and will probably come out "soon," according to the singer. He also said that it's "perfectly possible" that he'll do more than a remix with Madlib and/or DOOM.

Thom also mentioned his recent trip to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, expressing his discontent over the experience: "It was all looking like things could happen, and then it went horrendously tits up. So it was a weird place to be, but I'm glad I saw it."

If you want to hear more, including how the frontman doesn't like touring much and actually looked into the possibility of touring by train before realizing that it wasn't a realistic possibility, head to the BBC. You'll hear plenty of dubstep variation including songs by Charles Mingus, Jay Electronica, Can, Clinic, and Dam-Funk.
