Last year belonged to Taylor Swift, and her prospects for the 2010 are already looking promising. Last night (Jan. 6), the 20-year-old country-pop sensation won Favorite Female Artist at the 36th annual People's Choice Awards, as fellow musicians Paramore, Eminem, Jay-Z and Lady GaGa were also honored, among various country artists as well.
Swift's Fearless album was the top-selling album of 2009, beating out Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood, Pink and Beyoncé for the award. Favorite Music Collaboration went to Jay-Z and Rihanna for "Run This Town," as Eminem won Favorite Hip-Hop Artist while Paramore took home the Favorite Rock Band award. The Breakout Music Artist award trophy went to pip diva Lady GaGa, as did the Favorite Pop Artist award.
A record 60 million votes were cast in deciding this year's winners. Swift is a standing favorite with Grammy voters, where she's nominated for eight awards and will once again compete against Beyonce for the night's two top honors: Album of the Year and Record of the Year. The 2010 Grammy Awards will take place January 31.
