Kid Cudi is relatively new to the rap scene, but he has quickly been garnering more recognition and popularity. His debut album “Man on the Moon: The End of Day,” which came out this year, soared on the charts and in sales figures – it sold more than 100,000 copies in its first week alone and hit an impressive No. 4 on the Billboard 200. "I tend to mentally pinch myself often because my career so far has been one really exciting ride," Kid Cudi said in a press release. "Now I'm punching myself because this is just too friggin' unreal."

His recent stop in Vancouver was intended to be a testament to his rising fame, as he was opening for Lady Gaga three nights in a row at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre as well as playing two solo shows at the Commodore Ballroom. However, when a fight broke out at one his shows (and was caught on tape), media outlets everywhere started reporting on the altercation, and unfortunately for Kid Cudi, the fight caused an untimely backlash.

The brawl started because, while the rapper was performing, someone threw a wallet at him, and when he tossed it back into the crowd, Michael Sharpe caught it, leading Kid Cudi to believe it was Sharpe’s. The musician jumped down into the crowd and punched Sharpe. However, Sharpe wasn’t really fazed by the attack.

“I’m not upset. I'm not going to be that person," Sharpe said to TMZ. "I just want to meet him and be like 'I'm the guy you punched.' I'm not going to press charges.”

Kid Cudi hasn’t commented on the situation.
