Montreal is blushing – and it’s all because of Bono.

The city was abuzz when U2 announced plans to make a stop in Montreal next July during their “360 degrees” tour, and fans were even more stoked when they found out that the band would be footing the bill to expand the Hippodrome to accommodate 60,000 of them. To top things off, U2 then decided to book a second show during their Montreal stop. It was a good week for the city’s Bono fans.

The band has expressed a sense of devotion and love for Montreal, which was clear when they chose to invest $3 million in renovating and expanding the Hippodrome. The end-result will house a cylindrical video system with interlocking LED panels as well as a steel structure that rises 150 feet from the floor over a massive stage with rotating bridges. It’s all an incredible and visually-appealing set-up that offers concert-goers an intimate 360-degree experience.

Not only are fans getting a top-notch show by one of the most successful and popular bands of today’s generation, but they’re getting it for a surprising low price – Gillett Entertainment Group proudly announced that more than half of tickets cost $55 or less.

"It's unprecedented," said Jacques Aube, Vice President of Gillett. "U2 and Montreal are inseparable. We absolutely had to find a first-rate location to host them. Even if the project is uniquely complex, demanding, and bold, we are exceptionally happy to be offering fans an unrivalled concert that will forever leave its mark on the cultural history of Montreal."

This is U2's first North American stadium tour since their Popmart tour in 97.
