Billy Corgan just keeps getting weirder and weirder. The eccentric centerpiece of the Smashing Pumpkins took a break from recording his upcoming 44-song Pumpkins album, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, to take part in a puppet wrestling showdown that resulted in some of the weirdest Mr. Showzen-type puppet nonsense you've ever seen.
Episode one of “Gothageddon” centers on a make-believe feud between Corgan and a puppet of The Cure’s Robert Smith. What's interesting is that Corgan did voiceover versions of Amanda Palmer, Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy, and ex-SP guitarist James Iha.
Is there a plot? I'm not sure, because getting through the entire thing is not unlike what I'd imagine chewing on lightbulb shards wrapped in tin foil feels like. It's a complete nonsensical mess, but I'm sure that won't matter to the Pumpkin legions, who've stuck with Corgan this far down the rabbit hole.
