After a Ticketmaster ticketing error that left fans without access to next year's Big Day Out festival, organizers have decided to add a second show in Sydney on January 23, the day after the Friday, January 22 date of the original.
Big Day Out 2010 will feature Muse, Powderfinger, Lily "I'm a complete idiot" Allen, The Decemberists Groove Armada, The Mars Volta, Ladyhawke, Kasabian, Dizzee Rascal, Karnivool, Peaches, The Temper Trap, Midnight Juggernauts, Rise Against and Magic Dirt, among many others.
Fans were livid after they logged on to to buy tickets on Ticketmaster's website at the advertised time of 9am (AEDT), only to find them completely sold out. A glitch by Ticketmaster meant fans were able to purchase tickets around 9pm the night before, instead of 9am, which cleared them out by the morning and left the unenlightened out in the cold.
A large portion of the 50,000 tickets that were accidently on early sale were snapped up by scalpers (who were able to repeatedly buy four-pack lots of tickets), and have already appeared on eBay at heavily inflated prices. To balance the equation for fans, organizers have decided to add the second day, which will mark the 100th Big Day Out show.
