Josh Homme & Brody Dalle Record Duets Album

Oh, but there's a catch...

To call Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme prolific would be a bit of an understatement. Aside from his roles in QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal and the infamous, shoot-from-the-hip guest bonanza Desert Sessions, Homme's been tending the boards for the Arctic Monkeys, producing their highly-anticipated next album, Humbug

As if that weren't enough to keep the man burning the candle at both ends, we've now learned that Homme and his wife, Brody Dalle of Spinnerette, have recorded what amounts to an album together. A rock-royalty dream come true, right? Well, not so fast. There's not much chance you'll ever hear it.

Homme and Dalle have reportedly duetted on some of their favorite songs, but Brody doesn't think their studio sessions are unlikely to ever see the light of day.

"Josh and I have done a few covers together," she teased. "We've recorded a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival, they are just one of the coolest bands ever. I doubt we'll ever get chance to release a covers album though because our schedule is so crazy."

That's a damn shame. Dalle, of course, is the nucleus of rock outfit Spinnerette and former frontwoman of punk outfit The Distillers. After laying waste to previous notions of what it takes to front a kick-ass punk band (i.e. a dick), Brody took the Distillers to unprecedented heights, particularly with 2003's nearly-flawless Coral Fang album. It turned out to be the band's swan song, however, and in the years between she got married, had a kid and made a damn fine record in the process.

On the other hand, the uninformed may be asking, why is it news when Josh Homme records a new album? Rather than be the third party explaining his kickassery, here's a perfect example why from the man himself - Queens Of The Stone Age performing "Misfit Love" on Henry Rollins' IFC show:

Looks like we'll be seeing a new Queens of the Stone Age album sometime next year, and you can be your ass we'll be on that like white people on outdated black slang. In the meantime, enjoy this delicious little picture:

Thanks to Fernando for the clip!
