More details have been unveiled regarding the mysterious collaboration between Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse and a slew of other names, and it looks even better than we originally thought.

Dark Night Of The Soul is a collaboration mix of album and book that features an impressive lineup including Iggy Pop, Black Francis of The Pixies, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Vic Chesnutt, The Flaming Lips, Jason Lytle ex-member of the now defunct Grandaddy, James Mercer of The Shins, Nina Persson of The Cardigans, Gruff Rhys of Supper Furry Animals and Suzanne Vega and is due this summer.

The book will feature over one hundred unique photos taken and created by none other than legendary filmmaker David Lynch, and will be included with the album.

The Gnarls Barkley nucleus teamed up with Sparklehorse, a.k.a. North Carolina songwriter Mark Linkous (the two first worked together on Sparklehorse's last album, Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain) and began writing songs for a collaborative release as Dangerhorse, with the intention of recruiting a slew of guest singers.

In the process, Danger Mouse, a.k.a. Brian Burton, a longtime fan of David Lynch films such as Mulholland Drive, asked the director to join the project. Lynch, who sings two songs on the album, added a multi-media aspect with a 100-page book of photos that will accompany the release. 50 of the pics will also be featured in a Dark Night of the Soul art exhibit at Los Angeles' Michael Kohn Gallery from May 30 - July 11.

Instead of attempting to gather all of those artists into one space at a traditional show, they'll put on an "art based" experience that features galleries of the photos from the book and music from the record playing in some form or another.

The project should hit sometime this summer. In the meantime, go here for more info.
