It's time once again for you to have your musical palette enhanced and stimulated by nine of the most intense tracks since last month's badass songs!

Eff Yeah!
Artist: Longwave
Song: Sirens In The Deep Sea
I have heard of Longwave being compared to one of my favorite post punk bands, Television, who are particularly notable for being one of the only post punk bands to actually pre-date punk rock. Anyway, the connection is comparison valid, so if you can imagine what pre punk post punk must sound like and also can imagine that you might like it, then you’ll probably also like Longwave, too.
Sirens In The Deep Sea
Artist: Red Fang
Song: Prehistoric Dog
I’m afraid I am unable to describe how awesome these guys are as well as their latest video does, so instead of trying to explain it to you I’m going to just post it right here so you can see for yourself:
Artist: N.A.S.A.
Song: Spacious Thoughts (feat. Tom Waits and Kool Keith)
N.A.S.A. stands for "North America/South America", and exists a s a collaborative platform for artists from both American continents. Although I’m reasonably certain that while Tom Waits is indeed from North America, Kool Keith is most likely from somewhere in another galaxy.
Spacious Thoughts (feat. Tom Waits and Kool Keith)
Artist: Black Lips
Songs: Short Fuse and Not a Problem
Two of the dudes in this band have really great mustaches. They’re on Vice records so you know that the mustaches are, like, ironic and stuff. That doesn’t make it any less sweet though. I grew a mustache once, but my girlfriend made me shave it off because she said it made me look totally Mexican, which is funny, because I am Mexican and people usually tell me I look like a 100% cracker ass narc. So that was a first for me. Also, the Black Lips are pretty rad and you should listen to them.
Short Fuse and Not a Problem
Artist: DJ Signify
Song: Low Tide (feat. Aesop Rock)
DJ Signify is like a new wave hip-hop producer. His beats sound like ghosts having sex in an art gallery restroom, which is the perfect backdrop for Aesop Rock to rap about galaxies metaphysical rebel planet celebrated monkfish (or whatever the hell it is that he raps about). Also, this song takes a full minute to start, so you know that it’s, like, experimental and stuff.
Low Tide (feat. Aesop Rock)
Artist: Wavves
Song: So Bored
Nathan Daniel William’s band, Waaves, sounds like a hipster surf rock band played through a shitty old boombox at a nighttime beach party. You know that sound, where everyone is too stoned or drunk to notice that the volume is up to high and it sounds all fuzzy, but the song is so rad that when they do notice it, everyone’s just all, “eh, just leave it”? Yeah, like that.
So Bored
Artist: Deastro
Song: The Shaded Forests
Randolph Chabot of Deastro is a 22 year-old little DIY musical genius that has made a successful underground career for himself without ever leaving his parent’s basement. You may have heard Deastro on Adult Swim’s latest music collection, “Ghostly Swim”.
The Shaded Forests
Artist: P.O.S.
Song: Goodbye
P.O.S. (which stands for “Pissed Off Steve”) is the best hip-hop performer I have seen in person since KRS-One. This may be due in part to his early interest in punk rock, but P.O.S. has an aggressive, intelligent flow that centers upon the important things in life as opposed to the material bullshit that most other rappers seem obsessed with.
Goodbye
Artist: Asobi Seksu
Song: Familiar Light
Asobi Seksu (which is Japanese for "playful sex”) are an artful shoegaze two-piece outfit with haunting rhythms and harmonies that sound to me a bit like Linda Ronstadt fronting Joy Division. It took me more than one listen to warm up to “Familiar Light”, and I’m assuming you may experience the same. Stick with it and you’ll find yourself on their MySpace page by the second or third listen.
