Weekly Music News Roundup

News and notes from the week in music.

Welcome to CraveOnline's weekly music news roundup! Covering all the latest in the hits, the bombs and the trainwrecks, we sift through the headlines and bring you just what you need to know about musical current events.

Rock n' roll legend Bo Diddley died Monday of heart failure. Other rock legends who Diddley inspired such as Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, BB King and Slash have all come forward to pay their respects. Slash recently told NME.COM that Diddley has greatly influenced countless musicians, and the Bo Diddley beat was the inspiration for Guns N Roses' song "Mr Brownstone." "He's a huge hero of mine and the fact that he knew who I was was a huge compliment," Slash said. "Bo Diddley created a myth that was uniquely his own. An entire rhythm is owed to just one guy and that's pretty rare," he said.

Radiohead Catalog Hits iTunes - Radiohead has been one of the last major holdouts from the iTunes digital download service, primarily because of their desire for fans to buy the albums in complete form, rather than as individual tracks. But that changed this week, when Radiohead's entire official catalog was made available on iTunes. Technically, iTunes always had the option of selling Radiohead's back catalog, but only as full albums. However, Apple's policy to date has been to refuse to conduct album-only sales. The only remaining holdouts now are the Beatles, AC/DC and Garth Brooks.

STP Reunion Tour off to Rocky Start - Surprise! Scott Weiland appears to be up to his old junkie antics with the Stone Temple Pilots' recent shows, arriving over an hour late, slurring apologies that annoyed band members cut off, and so on. The performances were said to be "desultory and joyless." This guy doesn't deserve the rock martyrdom that the sensationalistic media will try to bestow upon Scott when his inevitable overdose occurs.

Tori Amos drops her label - Tori's decided to take the indie path for her next album, dropping her longtime label Epic in the process and urging her fellow artists to “stop being dependent, dependent on any system that has become undependable."

This is an exciting time,"  she said in an announcement on her website. "There will be many ways in the present and in the future for artists to cross what has become the new unchartered Music Frontier. Ways that may seem impossible today but in a month's time will seem probable. There are many ways to be involved in a structure. But what kind of structure will it be and what will be the make up of its foundation?" The possibilities are endless, and Tori's free to ride whatever crazy-ass wave she deems fit.

In conjunction with the release of their new album, Weezer is taking over MTV this week as the featured band on MTV's "52 Bands/52 Weeks" show. Eleven hours of Weezer video clips will be integrated into MTV programming the entire week, and clips can also be viewed on MTV.com. That's right, I just said that MTV will be playing music. No way in hell can you expect to see an entire video, but all the same, it will be a momentous occasion.

R. Kelly: If the mole don't fit, you must acqu- oh wait, it does. Prosecution rested their case Monday in R. Kelly's never ending child-porn trial. There was some ridiculous claim that the guy in the sex tapes had a big mole on his back that Kelly didn't possess. Except he does. Check back in 2012 for more updates.

Muse Begin New Album - The boys who aren't Radiohead are currently hard at work on their follow-up to 2006's Black Holes & Revelations. Frontman Matt Bellamy told NME: "We've just started writing songs for the new album, whatever it's going to be, you know? It's going great, but we just started."
