Mötley Crüe: New Album, Festival Tour

Break out the aquanet and heroin!

That old batch of fat ex-junkies who brought you "Girls, Girls, Girls," "Dr. Feelgood" and more sex tapes than an adult video store have taken a cue from every other hair band who didn't get the Aquanet memo and decided to put out another album.

At a highly promoted press conference Tuesday, Mötley Crüe announced the release of their new album, Saints of Los Angeles, due out June 17th. Saints will be the first studio album recorded with all four original band members in over a decade. As if yet another 80's band revival weren't enough of a dream come true, they've also announced plans to hit the road on a 41-city, multi-band tour, brilliantly named Crue Fest. You know, 'cause the three hundred or so other music festivals this summer just didn't get it right.

So pull on those rotting leather pants, pawn your taste in music and get yourself some tickets to Crue Fest! Where else can you blow a hundred bucks on a ticket to see Motley Crue, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Trapt and, oh yes, Crüe bassist and asshole extraordinaire Nikki Sixx's yawnrock side project, Sixx: AM? That's right, nowhere. Any more cockrock and the fire marshal would shut the place down.

The Crüe premiered their new single, “Saints Of Los Angeles," at the press conference, along with "Kickstart My Heart." Imagine dipping a bucket into the toilet of a porta-potty at one of those summer festivals, right around the hottest point of the day. Now imagine sticking a funnel in your ear and pouring the contents of the bucket into it. That just about sums up the new Crüe song.

Despite choosing bands for the tour that "live the rock 'n' roll lifestyle," according to Sixx, the Grandfathers of Glam promise to act their age and leave the hard partying to the younger chaps on the tour. "The second we hit the stage, everything is exactly the same," drummer Tommy Lee said. "But when the house lights go up these days, everybody leaves and goes back to their hotel room, or bus, or airplane or whatever. It's different now. People have families and kids."

Fans looking for a bad reason to burn through their cash can hear "Saints of Los Angeles" on the video game Rock Band.
