By Johnny Firecloud | Attention all you east coast boys and girls: you can now stop whining about the lack of summer music festivals in your area. Organizers of the annual Coachella music festival in Indio, California are said to be planning an east-coast version of the wildly popular event this summer. |
No official lineup has been announced, but rumor has it that 80-100 bands are expected to participate, with Radiohead and Jack Johnson as possible headliners. Jack Johnson? Really? People still listen to that "Bubble Toes" guy? The name just reminds me of Birkenstocks, weed and annoying hippie girls dancing like idiots.
AEG/Goldenvoice hopes the new event will help establish a major summer presence in the area for the presenters. It will compete with the new Vineland Music Festival, which will be held over the same three days on a 500-acre farm in Vineland, N.J., about 40 minutes outside of Philadelphia.
An official announcement is expected in the next few days revealing the lineup for this year's Coachella festival in Indio, slated for April 25-27. And of course, CraveOnline will be there to cover it.
