Led Zeppelin Tour in 2008

According to the Cult's Ian Astbury

According to Cult frontman Ian Astbury, Led Zeppelin has already made plans to embark on a 2008 world reunion tour, and the Cult have been asked to open. At a concert in Cincinatti last Saturday, Astbury announced “We’ll be back next year, because we’re opening for a band you may have heard of. The name starts with an ‘L’ and has a ‘Z’ in it.” When a fan screamed “Led Zeppelin”, Astbury nodded and pumped his fist in the air.

Neither spokesman for the Cult or Led Zeppelin would comment on any tour plans at the moment, although U.S. venues have reportedly already been approached about holding dates next summer. Led Zeppelin’s hysterically anticipated reunion show on December 10th at London’s O2 Arena will likely be a deciding factor in whether touring is in the cards. In the past, singer Robert Plant has been known for his resistance to a reunion tour, while guitarist Jimmy Page has expressed enthusiasm for the idea. Back in 2003, Page told Billboard magazine he would "be positive and say that maybe it could be. I think really we'd need to see how we got on in every respect. And you've got to make sure that the music is jelling, and the personalities are jelling. But you know, who knows? Everything is possible!”

Page also told Reuters last week that the band plans to perform a track nobody’s ever heard before at the Dec. 10th show, but it wouldn’t exactly qualify as a “new” song. "There's one number that we rehearsed, I assume that it will make it to the Dome, that we never played at any point in time," said the guitar god. "It dates from when the band was together between 1968 and 1980. It's a really intense number."
