After nearly two decades out of the game, Grammy-winning soul-hop outfit Digable Planets are reuniting for a new album and tour in 2012, according to HipHopDX.

Lady Mecca, Cee Knowledge and Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler are reviving the spirit of their early-’90s magic, and collectively the group responsible for the "Rebirth of Slick" jam was a casually beloved fixture in the era. With two considerably dope albums to their name - 1993′s Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space) and 1994′s Blowout Comb - the group has been sporadically active over the years, occasionally reuniting for shows.

No concrete details have been made available yet, which leads us to believe that this reunion is still in the early stages. But when we've got news to share on the next Digable adventure, we'll bring it to you.

Check out one of the group's more stellar jams, "Nickel Bag":
