Frank Ocean's distinctive croon has arrived on a new track, which the R&B singer and Odd Future member posted hours ago on his Tumblr account.
Those who were first drawn to Ocean's "No Church in the Wild" hook from Watch The Throne will enjoy "Voodoo," a smooth-vibe ride through a late '90s R&B nostalgia trip.
Frank sings: "She's got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit he’s got the whole wide world in his pants. He's got the whole wide world in a wedding band; he put the whole wide world on her hand. She's got the whole wide world in her hands."
"The record is written, we're just trying to tie up all the production. Get everything sonically pleasing to me," Ocean told BBC's Zane Lowe of his album. "When I started writing this record that was one of the things I said. I wanted to be able to perform well, for it to transition to stage well... It feels good, they work out well."
As for the rumors that he turned down a collaboration with Kanye West for the album, Frank explained: "I said, 'As much as I want to work with you... I kind of want to do this without you. I kind of want this to be done without you. I kind of want to do it on my own.'"
"Voodoo" Lyrics:
darker times
they’re telling boulder heavy lies
looks like all we’ve got is each other
the truth is obsolete
remember when all i had was my mother
she didn’t compromise
she could recognize
voodoo
our daughters and our sons
are just candles in the sun
voodoo
don’t let him see divide
don’t you let her see divide
voodoo
she’s got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit
he’s got the whole wide world in his pants
he wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band
then put the whole wide world on her hands
she’s got the whole wide world in her hands
he’s got the whole wide world in his hands.
