Concerts are being announced and cancelled this week across the country. Here's some Canadian music news:
Toronto band Metric have announced a number of Canadian tour dates in support of their latest (and fifth) album, Synthetica, which came out on June 12th. There are 10 Canadian cities on the schedule for November:
November 9 – Victoria – Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre
November 10 – Vancouver – Rogers Arena
November 12 – Kelowna – Prospera Place
November 14 – Calgary – Stampede Corral
November 15 – Edmonton – Rexall Place
November 16 – Regina – Brandt Centre
November 17 – Winnipeg – MTS Centre
November 19 – London – John Labatt Centre
November 23 – Kingston – K-Rock Centre
November 24 – Toronto – Air Canada Centre
A stage collapsed at Toronto's Downsview Park this past Saturday just before Radiohead began their performance. Two people were injured and one man was killed – the band's drum technician, Scott Johnson. According to the Canadian Press, the group was experiencing "grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident," and they won't start performing again until next month because their light show was ruined – it "was unique and will take many weeks to replace." Their next concert will happen on July 10 in Nimes, France.
Skrillex and its Full Flex Express tour was supposed to be making a stop in St. Albert's Kinsmen Park July 20th, however the show has been cancelled by city officials. “When the city took a good look at what was involved and the number of people that were expected, they quickly decided that the city of St. Albert's just not prepared to deal with the kind of projected numbers that there was going to be in the city,” said St. Albert Councillor Cathy Heron to CBC News. “So we denied any permit.”
