Listen: Pearl Jam & Josh Homme Perform ‘In The Moonlight’

PJ offer a pretty amazing gift to fans for the holidays.

I still get goosebumps thinking back to Pearl Jam‘s incredible PJ20 festival, and the ridiculous collaborative experiences that took place between The Strokes, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Queens of The Stone Age,  Liam Finn, Pearl Jam and more. Fans have been chomping at the bit for an official release from the 20th anniversary weekend fest that took place on that awesomely wet weekend in Sept 2011, and finally our pleas have been heard – at least partially.

Pearl Jam’s performances, while generally known to be marathon-style sets of ever-changing material and high energy, were spectacularly over-the-top sets at PJ20 that mined rare & beloved songs and featured a forehead-smacking number of special guest performances. The first night of the band’s 20th anniversary concerts at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre was a 2 ½-hour, 28-song set specifically for the diehards, a celebration and exhumation of a staggering number of rare gems and collaborations that floored even the most seasoned PJ show attendee. The second night turned the heat up even higher with a 33 song, 3-plus hour performance that, as an unwavering Pearl Jam fan for a solid two decades can vouch for, was about as perfect and beautiful as any fan could ask for.

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme took the stage to sing PJ b-side "In The Moonlight," and PJ decided to gift their fans with an official live recording of the song to members of their Ten Club:

New albums from both bands are on the way in 2013. Stay tuned.
