A new Jimi Hendrix song called "Somewhere" has surfaced, as a teaser for the upcoming new Hendrix studio album People, Hell & Angels.
Yes, that's right, a new Jimi Hendrix record. The track, which has been previously unheard for over 43 years, has been met with excited enthusiasm from listeners after being played by DJ Shaun Keaveny on his BBC 6Music program.
Listen to "Somewhere" on the official Jimi Hendrix website alongside an interview with producer Eddie Kramer. The song, which has the legendary Stephen Stills on bass and Buddy Miles on drums, was teased in snippet form back in November.
People, Hell & Angels will be released on March 4 and features 12 'new' songs, which were recorded in the year before the guitar god's untimely passing. They were intended for the follow-up to Electric Ladyland that Hendrix had been working on before his death, and see a more experimental side of Hendrix: horns, keyboards, unique percussion and a second guitar all make appearances.
People, Hell & Angels tracklist:
'Hear My Train A Comin''
'Let Me Move You'
'Hey Gypsy Boy'
'Villanova Junction Blues'
Additionally, a biopic on Hendrix is in the works, starring Outkast's Andre 3000. Titled All Is by My Side, the film focuses on the beginning of Hendrix's career. More details here.
