Adele, Mumford & Sons and Lana Del Rey Win Brit Awards

Frank Ocean, Coldplay and Ben Howard also pick up gongs.

If there's one thing you can say about the Brit Awards, it's that it's reliable: reliably unwatchable. But in the middle of host James Corden's embarrassingly unfunny jokes and One Direction's willfull slaughtering of both Blondie's 'One Way or Another' and The Undertones's 'Teenage Kicks' (it's a charity single, so we'll let 'em off with a warning this time), you could've been forgiven that there were actual AWARDS to be handed out.

Mumford & Sons won Best British Group, beating the likes of Muse, The XX, Alt-J and One Direction, and it's difficult enough to imagine these people being in the same room together, let alone the same awards category.

Album of the Year went to the omnipresent Emeli Sande for 'Our Version of Events', and she also picked up the gong for Best British Female. Ben Howard won Best British Male over the likes of Richard Hawley, Plan B, Calvin Harris and Olly Murs which, again, is one f***ing strange group of people. You can't say that the British music industry isn't diverse…

Lana Del Rey picked up the award for Best International Female, telling those in attendance that she "was honoured" (she clearly hasn't watched the Brits before). Elsewhere, Adele won the award for Best Single for 'Skyfall', but couldn't be there so instead appeared on a giant screen (pictured above) that made her look a bit like a cockney overlord addressing her followers.
