Simon Cowell has extended an invitation to David Bowie for the role of the next X Factor judge.
Cowell is hiring once again, after it was revealed today that Tulisa will be replaced in a bid to raise viewing figures up from last year. Both Robbie Williams and Sharon Osborne are said to be on Cowell's radar, but in an interview with the Daily Mail, the owner of Syco Records has stated that he has sent an invitation out to Bowie, too.
"I think if I could have anyone on the X Factor it would be David Bowie", he said. "It’s no secret I’ve asked him, and he hasn’t said yes yet, but I’ll keep extending the invitation."
When asked why he'd want Bowie on the judging panel, Cowell responded: "He’s a legend. He’s a great songwriter, he has massive influence on music today and he’s 100 per cent credible. I’m a fan. Not just of his music but of him, the man. He’s cool. Most of us aren’t. Bowie is."
I'm sure Bowie feels validated by Cowell stating that he's a credible artist.
Meanwhile, Tulisa is probably going to have to have a little sit down and a think about where her career's going next, as her sacking from the X Factor panel for reportedly being "subdued" in last year's show follows the failure of her debut solo album, which peaked at just #35 in the charts despite Tulisa's omnipresence on national TV for a seemingly infinite number of months.
Oh, and in relation to the main story of this article, no, of course Bowie won't be judging X Factor, you idiot.
