A handful of celebrity surfers took over First Point at The Surfrider Foundation’s 5th annual Celebrity Expression Session this past Saturday, hitting the waves and hamming for cameras as they raised awareness and funds for the non-profit grassroots organization.

Anthony Kiedis and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers were on hand to help pull in $29,600 for Surfrider, as well as  The Hurt Locker's Brian Geraghty, Janes Addiction bassist Eric Avery, Eric Balfour and "True Blood"s Sam Trammell.

You can check out our coverage (pics too!) of that here, but we've also got an added treat for you – a brief conversation with RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis about the band's upcoming new album, which will feature new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer after John Frusciante's departure last year.

Anthony explains in the video how excited he is for the record, which is began recording this week with Rick Rubin after an 11-month writing period, which yielded "tons" of new music.

Our conversation with Jane's Addiction on-again, off-again bassist Eric Avery was a  good one as well, discussing the artist's new solo music as well as some level-headed speculation on whether RHCP or Jane's would win in a surfing contest.
