I didn’t have full access to Cee-Lo Green for NBC’s The Voice like I did when he was on Fuse TV. After NBC’s panel, they had to rush the celebrity musician judges off to their next series of tapings. Cee-Lo wanted to stay, so he answered a few questions of mine while he was on the run. See who he picks to mentor as the next great singer when The Voice premieres this week.
Crave Online: How does it feel that Crazy was chosen as the opening song?
Cee-Lo Green: Well, it kind of was just like a toss up. There were a few songs that we could’ve done. Everybody agreed. I was the last one to agree because I felt a little awkward. I didn’t want it to single me out too much. I wanted equality amongst us so we could’ve picked any random song to do, but everybody loves the song. Everybody has a voice of their own. It’s our song at the end of the day.
Crave Online: How do you think Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton did singing it?
Cee-Lo Green: I thought we did a great job. That was my first time seeing it so I had a bit of flutter going on to just check it out, but I think we did a great job. I couldn’t have picked better people to sing it with, besides Danger Mouse of course.
Crave Online: Have any of the contestants sung your own songs to you?
Cee-Lo Green: Not yet, not yet.
Crave Online: Should they sing a Cee-Lo song or would that be a bad idea?
Cee-Lo Green: Actually, one of my teammates picked a song of mine to sing. He did a great job too. His name is Nakia.
The Voice airs this week on NBC.
