Jackass 2 Soundtrack

The Jackass 2 soundtrack, like the cast of the film, features a motley crew. The soundtrack features a diverse roster of artists ranging from Elvis to Turbonegro to Three 6 Mafia. The disc makes a great party album, since you could leave it on for the majority of its 48 minute length, and only skip one or two songs. The soundtrack is also filled with dialogue from the movie.
From top to bottom the Jackass soundtrack fits the tone of the film. This is no “let's pick 13 artists from the billboard hot 100 and make a soundtrack” type of album. The songs on the disc were actually featured in the film during the stunt sequences. The cast interludes (dialogue clips from the film) are short and to the point lasting no more than a few seconds. There are two songs from cast members, one from Chris Pontius and another from the entire cast. The entire cast of Jackass sings the ridiculous show tune styled opus, "The Best of Times." Chris “Party Boy” Pontius performs the song "Karazy," which almost seems like it could be a song from a Cheech and Chong comedy album.

The set goes back a decade or two for a couple of songs, like Elvis’s 1968’s tune "A Little Less Conversation."  But the soundtrack sticks to the modern-age, for the most part, featuring tracks like Pavement’s 1994 indie hit, "Cut Your Hair."  That tune is probably the most subdued song on what is primarily a Rock and Punk fueled album.

But metal is represented, too, on Jackass 2.  Slayer keeps it extra heavy with their classic "Spill the Blood." Other standout cuts include New Zealand’s The Datsuns bringing it with "MF from Hell." And Norway’s own Turbonegro shows up with the song "All My Friends are Dead" from 2005’s excellent Party Animals.

Thankfully, the Jackass crew doesn't forget the ladies, either.  We get a healthy does of rock from the girls on the soundgrack, including the now classic "F*** the Pain Away" from Toronto’s Peaches.  Karen O from the Yeah, Yeah Yeahs then teams up with Peaches for the equally danceable "Backass."  And Carrie from the Los Angeles-based band Cakecutter, belts out the rock on the certified ass shaker, "Fly." Jackass fans may remember Cakecutter from the song "Nude Country," that appeared in the first Jackass film.

All in all a good party album, if you like wild out of control parties.
