Jesse McCartney Finds 'Locke & Key'

The entire Locke family has finally been cast.

According to Deadline, Jesse McCartney has been signed to play the male lead in "Locke and Key," after what is described as "an exhaustive search" to fill the role.

McCartney will portray Ty Locke, the oldest of three children. Sarah Bolger and Skylar Gaertner will play Ty’s siblings, Kinsey and Bode, while Miranda Otto ("Lord of The Rings") will be Nina Locke, the mother of the family.

"Locke & Key" is based on the original comic book miniseries by horror writer Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez. The series follows the Locke family after the brutal murder of Nina’s husband, Rendell Locke. Looking to help her family recover, Nina moves her children into Keyhouse, Rendell’s ancestral home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. However, the children soon discover that the walls of the estate contain keys to other worlds. And a malevolent force will stop at nothing to destroy the family in pursuit of the power within Keyhouse.

Although best known for his career as a singer and a song writer, McCartney has appeared in several TV series, including "Law & Order," "What I Like About You," "Summerland" and also has a recurring role on the ABC Family series, "Greek." He is also the voice of Robin in "Young Justice" and Roxas in the "Kingdom Hearts" video game series.

McCartney’s musical talents will also reportedly be put to use in "Locke and Key," which already has a series commitment from Fox.

The pilot for "Locke and Key" was written by Josh Friedman ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"), who will also serve as the showrunner. Mark Romanek ("One Hour Photo") is set to direct the pilot episode.

The series also has Steven Spielberg and "Fringe" co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci attached as executive producers. The series is expected to make the 2011 Fall schedule on Fox.
