Scream 4 was always a film we were approaching with morbid curiosity, hoping beyond hope that fourth Ghostface movie would be a clever, funny and maybe even kinda scary as the original. Well, our curiosity just got more morbid: Wes Craven has returned to production for reshoots. Rarely a good sign – although hardly the kiss of death – director Wes Craven explained the decision to shoot more material to Entertainment Weekly:
"They’re not reshoots," Craven explained. "We had a couple test screenings and we saw two scenes where they had moments you could add to and we just saw a spectacular opportunity. Bob [Weinstein] just said to me basically, ‘You go to your dark side and I’ll give you the money!’ The two scenes were really good but we saw how they could be spectacular, so we thought, let’s just go for it. They were key moments of the script, so we just decided to go back and go for the grand slam with them."
Craven also dismissed the rumors that these reshoo… Um, we mean, things that they are shooting now because they should have shot them earlier, so it’s kind of like doing them all over again, which would normally necessitate the prefix "Re-," but not in this case for some reason, presumably just to damage control bad publicity… Um… Wow, where were we?
Oh yeah, Craven dismissed the rumor that the ending is being reshot. "No, the ending is totally kick-ass. We’re not going to touch that."
