Sega Announces Virtua Tennis 4

Sega has officially announced Virtua Tennis 4 for Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3. The game will launch in Spring 2011 and be compatible for Microsoft Kinect, Wii MotionPlus and PlayStation Move. The PS3 version will also support 3-D technology.

Virtua Tennis 4 is being developed by the same team that created the original Virtua Tennis for Sega Dreamcast all those years ago. Remember how incredible the original game was? Hopefully Virtua Tennis 4 is a return trip to greatness for the franchise.

On top of the original development team returning, Virtua Tennis 4 will include the series strongest player line-up ever — including the likes of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Juan Martín Del Potro, Fernando Gonzalez, Caroline Wozniacki and Laura Robson.

The new World Tour career mode is being designed from the ground up to encourage “replay value with an element of off-court fame.” Every decision will affect the player’s career path. Honestly, this sounds a lot like Mass Effect, only with short form-fitting dresses, green balls and a whole lot of grunting. OK, maybe that sounds exactly like Mass Effect.

Virtua Tennis 4 will also feature a new Online mode which brings a perfect balance of matchmaking options for both the hardcore and casual tennis gamers out there.
