Back in May, word broke that the "Lost" The Complete Collection DVD set would contain an epilogue that takes place after Hugo “Hurley” Reyes (Jorge Garcia) succeeded Jack Shepard (Matthew Fox) as protector of the island, with Benjamin Linus (Michael Emerson) as his right hand man.
Now, the first screenshot from the epilogue has debuted at Entertainment Weekly, which reiterates that the epilogue will be called ''The New Man in Charge'' and run for about 12 minutes.
Emerson also offered a brief explanation of the photo.
''Ben is going around to Dharma installations and closing some down,'' said Emerson. ''There are some good surprises.'' And yes, ''it does answer questions.''
It's may be worth noting that the Dharma installations seen here may be run by some of "The Others" who escaped the influence of the Man in Black (aka Smokey), rather than actual members of the Dharma initiative.
When Emerson first spoke about the epilogue back in May, he said "For those people that want to pony up and buy the complete 'Lost' series, there is a bonus feature which you could call an epilogue... [or] a lost scene."
“It’s 12 or 14 minutes that opens a window onto that gap of unknown time between Hurley becoming number one and the end of the series,” continued Emerson. “It’s self-contained, although it’s a rich period in the show’s mythology that’s never been explored. So, who knows what will come of it.”
"The New Man In Charge" will reportedly be the last new in-story footage of "Lost" that will be released.
While previous reports have suggested that "The New Man In Charge" would only be available on the complete series set, Entertainment Weekly seems to suggest that it will be included on the "Lost" Sixth Season DVD set as well.
Both collections will debut on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 24.
