Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! Season 1

By Jeremy Azevedo
Of all the silly things in this world that beg to be mocked, few are as untapped as public television. Where else can you see the batshit crazy musings of people that have no business being on television (or even the radio, for that matter) than public access?

And who better to capture this raw, unfiltered awkwardness than Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, perhaps two of the most uncomfortable performers on regular TV?

Tim and Eric are already (sort of) well known for their (sort of) animated show, “Tom Goes to the Mayor”. Their new show, “Tim and Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job!” transfers that same kind of humor into a live setting, sprinkles in a few amazing guest stars (John C. Rielly, Michael Cera, Jeff Goldblum, etc.) and cranks the weirdo dial up to 11. Season 1 is available now, so if you haven’t yet been acquainted with Tim and Eric, now is as good a time as any.

The style of humor on Tim and Eric is so far out that it may not be for everybody. If you think SNL is really hilarious or something, you probably won’t get it. Tim and Eric are like the Salvador Dali of short form comedy. Most of the humor is funny really for no other reason that it exists, bravely defying the very concept of what the defining concepts of comedy actually are. Of course, regular “Adult Swim” viewers are already well indoctrined to this style of humor, but your average “Dave Chappelle” fan would be hard pressed to construct as single coherent episode out of an entire season of Tim and Eric.

If you think you might be amused by Gravy Robbers, B’ougars (a stuffed bear with the voice of a cougar that turns imaginary fears into real ones), grown men dressed like children rapping about sitting down to pee and “no sex” hot dog parades, then look no further than Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!
