Oh, snap! DICE has just removed their glove and bitch-slapped their competitors in one hell of a roundhouse. While speaking with games.on.net, DICE’s General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson said that their competitors aren’t innovating, they’re simply not sinking.
“The competitors … are out there, they’re established, and they’re very, very big,” said Troedsson. “We believe that they are not innovating, that they are treading water. We … are investing our time, our energy and money in actually innovating.”
“Every time that we launch a new game, we ask ourselves – what can we do better? What can we make faster? More fun? So, first and foremost we always compete with ourselves,” added Troedsson. He concluded by calling Battlefield 3 a true and “proper” sequel to Battlefield 2. Battlefield 3 is not another entry in the Bad Company line.
Well, damn. Those are big words Mr. Troedsson. Let’s hope, for your sake, that Battlefield 3 delivers on your innovation promises. From what we’ve seen thus far, Battlefield 3 is shaping up quite nicely. However, we haven’t seen anything yet that is truly innovative about the minimal gameplay footage thrown our way. The graphics are fantastic, however. No complaints there.
