You have the power to choose the cover athlete for this year’s Madden NFL 12. EA Sports has kickstarted a new campaign that will let fans vote on who they think deserves cover athlete status for this year’s Madden — as an added bonus that individual gets the curse that comes with it. The voting procedure begins today and finishes on April 27. You can vote here: http://www.espn.com/MaddenVote.
You can then turn on tonight’s ESPN SportsNation at 4pm EST to see the full bracket of eligible players (one for each of the league’s 32 teams), as well as follow the bracket’s progress on a daily basis by tuning into the show. The winner will then be announced on April 27 on SportsNation.
Some of the players available are Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Saints QB Drew Brees (former Madden cover athelete), as well as Michael Vick (yeesh), Maurice Jones-Drew, Adrian Peterson and Julius Peppers. Using simple mathematics, there are 26 other players to vote for.
“Whether it be from fans, media, agents, or even the players themselves, there’s never a shortage of opinions when it comes to the annual selection of the Madden NFL cover athlete,” said Anthony Stevenson, Senior Product Manager of EA SPORTS. “So this year we’re handing the keys over to the public. ESPN continues to be a tremendous partner of the Madden NFL franchise, and it makes perfect sense for ‘SportsNation’ to be the platform that gives fans the ultimate say in who graces the cover of Madden NFL 12.”
