Canada Sings Names Celeb Judges!

Take one reality singing show pitting various Canadian business glee clubs against each other, add a stage and some fancy lighting, and throw in three celeb judges like fellow Canadian Jann Arden, Rob Van Winkle aka Vanilla Ice, and Simple Plan’s Pierre Bouvier, and you’ve got yourself a hit reality show in the making.

"Canada Sings" is a competition between singing groups that have been created at various companies across the country. Each week, the one-hour show will see these corporate glee clubs face off against one another until one reigns supreme. The winning team will get to give a donation to the charity of their choice.

"It takes an enormous amount of bravery but I also want kids just to get out there and work hard for what they want to do in their lives. I don’t think handing them this ticket is necessarily a great idea and it creates a lot of losers and one winner," Jann Arden told the Winnipeg Free Press on Tuesday of the pop music franchise, which includes "American Idol" and "Pop Idol."

Participating companies include Air Canada, Hamilton Police, GoodLife Fitness, the Toronto Fire Services, and The Keg.

“’Canada Sings’ is not your average singing competition. For most, it’s next to impossible to imagine singing with your boss or workmate in a chorus, but for our twelve courageous teams, it has become an exciting reality,” said Barb Williams, Senior Vice-President, Content, Shaw Media, in an official press release. “With such heart and soul invested by all the teams and a charitable donation hanging in the balance, I know declaring a winner will be a challenging task, even given the expertise of our judging panel.”
