FIRST LOOK: Adrianne Palicki As Wonder Woman

Last month Adrianne Palicki was signed to portray Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s new pilot for NBC. Early on, there was some speculation as to whether Wonder Woman’s costume would be the classic one piece outfit or the most recent redesign by Jim Lee currently featured in the comic book series. And now we have a more definitive answer.

Warner Brothers TV has released the first image of Palicki in costume as the iconic superheroine. As expected, her current costume design with the controversial pants appears to have been the primary inspiration for this incarnation. However, it loses the black jacket and in the process feels closer to the classic design for her upper body. Her golden lasso and bracelets also appear to be closer to the classic design for the character.

The first point of comparison is Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman from the ’70s, which was extremely popular at the time and defined the character for years.

In Kelley’s "reinvention" of "Wonder Woman," the Amazon princess reportedly splits her life into three different identities: a vigilante crime fighter,  a corporate executive and a "modern woman" attempting to balance her remarkable adventures with her everyday life.

Thus far, Elizabeth Hurley is the biggest guest star attached to the pilot. Hurley will play Veronica Cale, a corporate villain described as Wonder Woman’s Lex Luthor. Cary Elwes ("Saw") co-stars as Henry Detmer, the head of Wonder Woman’s company, with Tracie Thoms as Wonder Woman’s personal assistant, Etta Candy and Pedro Pascal as Wonder Woman’s liaison with the Los Angeles police department.

"Wonder Woman" has been one of the most hyped projects during the current pilot season and it is highly favored to make NBC’s fall schedule.
