Matthew Fox might have taken Lost a bit too seriously: the actor’s been completely MIA since the hit series wrapped in 2010. That’s about to change now that Fox has taken the coveted villain role in I, Alex Cross, Lionsgate’s upcoming reboot of the popular movie series based on the novels by James Patterson. Morgan Freeman played Alex Cross in the first two movies – Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider – but he’s getting on a bit. Last we heard Tyler Perry had accepted the title role after the quiet departure of Thor‘s Idris Elba. Deadline had the details.
Fox will portray Michael Sullivan, aka ‘The Butcher of Sligo.’ Sullivan is a killer for hire and for kicks, and after Cross thwarts of his homicide attempts Sullivan makes it personal by – SPOILER ALERT (sorta) – killing Alex Cross’s wife – END (kinda) SPOILERS. Man, has that ever worked? Killing the loved ones of your enemy? Has any good guy ever just backed the f*** down after that, muttering, ‘Boy, he sure showed me…?" Maybe it’s time to put that trope to bed.
The cast of I, Alex Cross has already grown: Ed Burns (The Brothers McMullen) has been added to the cast as Cross’s partner, Tommy Kane. Rob Cohen (The Fast & The Furious) will direct the upcoming reboot from a script by Mark Moss.
Crave Online will return with more I, Alex Cross news as it I, gets released.
