THQ has announced that Red Faction: Armageddon is set to release on May 31 in the US on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with an international release on June 3. Armageddon will expand the acclaimed sci-fi franchise’s universe, building on the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla as well as the upcoming SyFy live-action movie, Red Faction: Origins.
In Red Faction: Armageddon you play as destruction expert (convenient for this franchise) Darius Mason in a journey that sees you travel from the frozen poles to the molten cores of Mars as you “wage war against the Red Faction’s greatest enemy yet.”
Armageddon features the groundbreaking Geo-Mod 2.0 destruction engine, allowing players to take full advantage of their destructive tendencies and collapse “huge Martian structures on their enemies.” New to the franchise is the Nano-Forge ability which lets you repair collapsed structures and experiment with the most creative ways of knocking them down to maximum carnage.
"Red Faction: Armageddon is an incredible new entry in this vaunted franchise, and Volition once again pushes the envelope of technology and science fiction," said Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President, Core Games, THQ. "Come May 31, players can look forward to collapsing entire buildings on their enemies, using the world as their weapon."
For those that haven’t yet seen it, here is the official packaging for Red Faction: Armageddon. It’s pretty damn eye-catching.
