Adrianne Palicki Cast As 'Wonder Woman'

Just under a month after NBC picked up David E. Kelley’s "Wonder Woman" reboot, the new Amazon princess has been found.

Adrianne Palicki has agreed to play Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Palicki is best known for her starring role on three seasons of "Friday Night Lights" and she was critically lauded for her performance in the short lived Fox drama, "Lone Star" late last year. Prior to that, Palicki appeared in "CSI," "Supernatural," "Legion" and an unaired revival of "Lost In Space." In 2004, Palicki appeared as Kara, a forerunner of Supergirl on "Smallville."

It seems as if Kelley had Palicki in mind for Wonder Woman even before the casting process started. Deadline reported that Palicki was the only actress invited to test for the part.

On television, "Wonder Woman" was adapted into a live-action series for three seasons in the ’70s with Lynda Carter in the starring role.

The new "Wonder Woman" pilot is reportedly a radical reimagining of the character, which follows Wonder Woman as a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles juggling her career as a successful corporate executive. The most common description refers to the premise as "a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life."

Kelley wrote the pilot episode and he will be an executive producer on the series if it gets picked up for next season. Jeffrey Reiner ("The Event") has been signed to direct the pilot while Bill D’Elia ("The Practice") will also serve as an executive producer.

Recently, an early version of Kelley’s "Wonder Woman" script leaked online and it was widely criticized for veering so far away from the source material. However, it’s not currently known if that script will be changed before filming begins.
