Christopher Nolan’s going the way of all superhero threequels and cramming The Dark Knight Rises full of stars. Marion Cotillard has confirmed this weekend’s speculation that she’s in talks to join Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (probably) and series regulars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine in Nolan’s eagerly-anticipated third Batman movie. Jeepers… Let’s hope there’s room for a few scenes with Batman in them…
Though hardly a sure thing, we know that Nolan loves, loves, loves keeping his casts together, often recycling stars for films like Inception and The Prestige. Cotillard isn’t a sure thing though. She’d probably love to do it but she has a baby on the way and as such, The Hollywood Reporter has reported (from Hollywood, again) that she’s ‘discussing scheduling issues.’ Nolan hasn’t put all of his eggs in Cotillard’s basket (which sounds pretty dirty to us), so he’s also been meeting with Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive) and two of Cotillard’s fellow Academy Award winners, Kate Winslet (The Reader) and Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener), for the part.
What part? The leading contender is Talia Head, the villainous(-ess) daughter of Ra’s Al-Gul, played by Liam Neeson in Nolan’s Batman Begins. She might be pretty miffed about her father’s death, but that kind of thing didn’t stop her from having Bruce Wayne’s lovechild in the comics. Come to think of it, it wouldn’t exactly stop us either. Rawr.
CraveOnline will batarang back when the casting – and character – is confirmed.
