Marvel’s Moon Knight #1 Preview

Marc Spector has issues.  And now, once again, Moon Knight will have issues as well - starting with issue #1, thanks to Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev.

Moon Knight #1

The last Moon Knight run featured a pretty sick, twisted and dark set of personal demons (and actual demons, if you count that nasty old Khonshu urging him toward lethal methods all the time) for the hero, as well as some significant mental instability by changing some of his fake identities into legitimate multiple personalities.  Now, Brian Michael Bendis is having the Secret Avenger take his schizophrenia back out to the west coast for a brand new Moon Knight #1, with artist Alex Maleev.

Bendis is claiming this is "a complete reinvention of the character on every conceivable level," and he said this should create new fans of the character.  He also said that both Dan Slott and Jeph Loeb liked his pitch for the series, and usually it's either one or the other who approves, so take that for what it's worth to you.

The story finds Spector moving to Los Angeles to take on a crime syndicate led by a mastermind who will go to great lengths to make an example out of the former West Coast Avenger.  He also may or may not be working on a movie about Khonshu.  That'd certainly be a reinvention.

Here's some preview art for Moon Knight #1, due out May 11, featuring variant covers from Bryan Hitch, Mark Texiera and Humberto Ramos.
