Attention all kung-fu masters, "Black Dynamite" is coming back!

After a long period in development, Adult Swim has finally given the greenlight for an all new "Black Dynamite" animated series coming in Spring 2012.

"Black Dynamite" is based on the Scott Sanders directed movie of the same name which starred Michael Jai White in the title role as an "ex-CIA agent and full-time ladies man." In the original film, Black Dynamite pursued the deadly conspiracy of Anaconda malt liquor from Kung Fu Island all the way to President Nixon's White House.

White will reprise his role in the animated series alongside other returning cast members, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley and Byron Minns. Carl Jones ("The Boondocks") will be spearheading the series, which will be animated by Titmouse.

Jon Steingart and Jillian Apfelbaum will also join Jones as executive producers for the series, with Brian Ash as a co-executive producer. Sanders, White and Minns are also producers on the show.

While the "Black Dynamite" animated series is over a year away, "Black Dynamite" currently lives on as a new comic book one-shot from Ape Entertainment called "Black Dynamite: Slave Island." In the comic, Ash adapts a story by White, Minns and Sanders that brings Black Dynamite to a mysterious island where slavery is still in effect… but not for long.

The "Black Dynamite: Slave Island" one-shot is currently out in comic stores, with art by Jun LoFamia and colors by JM Ringuet.
