Crave has just received a press release from Crackle, informing us of their new smart phone/ipad/ipod application that offers uncut feature films and television shows for free, albeit with ads. (Come on, they have to make money somehow, right?) We haven't had an opportunity to really test the service so we can't exactly endorse it yet, but for the price we can't imagine anyone who watches movies on their mobile devices wouldn't want to at least know about it so they can test it for themselves.
The opening slate of offerings boasts 255 feature films and 104 television series. Movies range from big summer hits like The Da Vinci Code and Spider-Man 1-3 to arty fare like Bottle Rocket and The Squid and the Whale to cult classics like Vibes and The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies to good old fashioned classics like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Easy Rider. TV series available include cable hits like Dexter and The Walking Dead to sitcoms like Seinfeld and The Facts of Life to cult series like Forever Knight and The Unusuals to cartoons ranging from Q*Bert to Samurai X.
You can check out the Crackle app here, or check out the full press release below for more details! Is the service any good? Let us know in the comments below!
