M.O.D.O.K. Red Ghost and the Super-Apes. The Mad Thinker and the Awesome Android. The Wingless Wizard. Now featuring Klaw. You can't get a cooler supervillain team than that, and although they may be sans the Leader these days, they're still a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming jump-on book Avengers #12.1, from Brian Michael Bendis and Bryan Hitch.
This issue is promising appearances from The New Avengers as well as The Secret Avengers, involvement from S.W.O.R.D. – which means we'll likely get some lovely bitchiness from Agent Brand – and the disappearance of Spider-Woman. Again. First Skrulls and now this. Seems this spider-lass can't stick around anywhere. We'll also get to see how the Intelligentcia functions with this new M.O.D.O.K. Superior that's arisen in the pages of Jeff Parker's Red Hulk series, and apparently we'll see the prologue to next year's big Avengers event. Perhaps we'll also see why Bucky Cap is in this story when he's stuck in a Russian prison in his own book.
Bald M.O.D.O.K. is pretty creepy, but I really miss the bowl cut.
Check out these preview pages for Avengers #12.1, due out on Wednesday. Apologies for the image quality – that's how Marvel gave them to us.
