Oh crap, we're running of Twilight novels. What are we going to do?!
It's okay folks. Hollywood's got this one. The time has finally come to adapt The Host, aka 'That Other Stephanie Meyer Novel.' And they've got a stellar leading lady: Saoirse Ronan of Atonement, Hanna and The Lovely Bones is set to star as Melanie Stryder, one of the last human beings resisting an alien invasion. The twist, such as it is, is that the aliens have invaded our very bodies, erasing our personalities from within.
So... It's a tweener Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Hmm... We've heard worse ideas.
And we've heard damned worse ideas than getting The Truman Show scribe Andrew Niccol to write (and possibly even direct) the adaptation. Susanna White (Generation Kill) was briefly attached to helm the project, but the director's chair currently remains open. Deadline had the story.
The Host sold a gajillion copies (approximately one bazillion less than the Twilight series), but nobody seems to talk about it very much. Are you excited for this adaptation? Because we don't know how to feel about this one.
Crave Online will be back with more The Host news, especially if they shift focus completely and just remake the Korean horror movie instead.
