The PlayStation Network lives! Now that the PSN is back online, millions of PlayStation users are undoubtedly flocking to Sony’s online service to catch up on roughly a month away from online gaming. So, as a favor to those who were affected by the PSN outage, we’ve gone ahead and picked five games that you should carve out time for now that Sony’s online service has been resurrected.

Portal 2 Co-op

This one is obvious. The PlayStation Network was taken offline a day after Portal 2 launched. For roughly a month now, gamers have been singing the praises of Valve’s latest portal manipulator. Unfortunately, PlayStation gamers haven’t been able to completely join in on the fun, as they’ve been sequestered to Portal 2’s single player experience without a working PSN. Well, not anymore! It’s now time to buddy up and knock out the co-op mode of Portal 2 to see what everyone’s been raving about.

Mortal Kombat

Here’s another game affected by terrible timing. Like Portal 2, Mortal Kombat launched a day before the shit hit the fan for PlayStation gamers. But now that the PSN is back to operational status, it’s time to take the fight online and air out your frustrations by ripping someone’s (digital) head off. It’s the only sensible thing to do, really. Mortal Kombat is one of the best games to release thus far this year, with an incredibly robust multiplayer component to boot. Now’s the time to take advantage of it.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Ah, the classics. What better way to celebrate the PlayStation Network’s return than by dusting off the PS3’s best multiplayer game and taking it for a spin online. Sure, maybe you’ve already completed everything there is to do in Uncharted 2’s multiplayer since it launched over a year and a half ago, but that doesn’t the fact that this game features one of the richest multiplayer components available. Furthermore, give yourself an excuse to get excited for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, as its release is sneaking up pretty quickly.

Brink

It’s unfortunate for developer Splash Damage that their online multiplayer-catering shooter, Brink, launched during the PSN’s outage. Without access to online multiplayer, Brink can be a pretty boring experience. Thankfully, only a week after Brink’s launch, the PSN returned. So do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Brink to enjoy some quality class-based multiplayer action, with more style than it knows what to do with.

Red Dead Redemption

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the calendar, then you probably know tomorrow sees the launch of Rockstar’s latest, L.A. Noire. That’s why we’re recommending you take the opportunity to jump online with Red Dead Redemption to celebrate the crime thriller’s impending release. Sure, Red Dead launched almost a year ago, but the game still offers a loaded online multiplayer experience that has never curdled like milk. Of course, there are newer titles that have released on the PS3 with online multiplayer components, but it’s still hard to recommend those over RDR.

Do you agree with this list of titles? Would you have included something else? Let us know what your gaming plans are now that the PSN is back online.
