With DC's Flashpoint event spawning a zillion tie-in miniseries, it's hard to know where to begin in this new and strange alternate universe that Barry Allen finds himself powerless within. Perhaps we'll recommend starting with some Issue #1s. Namely, Batman: Knight of Vengeance and Secret Seven.
Next week, we'll get a very different kind of Batman. He's a ruthless, bitter Thomas Wayne, who lost his wife Martha and son Bruce to crime, which means things are entirely different in Gotham CIty – and by 'different' we mean 'twisted.'
Check out these preview pages from Batman: Knight of Vengeance #1, from Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso.
Also coming up is a twist on classic Suicide Squad action entitled Secret Seven, riffing on the Secret Six series that's currently one of DC's best. Featuring characters from John Ostrander's original run back in the 80s, such as the Enchantress, Black Orchid and Shade the Changing Man, this series is going to have some strange and surreal things afoot. Writer Peter Milligan handled the Shade The Changing Man Vertigo series in the 90s, and George Perez art is always a welcome addition to any event.
Here are some preview pages from Secret Seven #1, also featuring art from Scott Koblish.
