After the whole Osama bin Laden thing – not to mention the whole Charlie Sheen thing – interest in new Navy SEALs movies was pretty much a given. What's new and kinda different is that Relativity Media's new film Act of Valor will star actual Navy damned SEALs. This of course begs the question: They're heroes… but can they act? Valorously?
Vulture reports that professional stunt people Mike 'Mouse McCoy' and Scott Waugh are directing the upcoming feature from a screenplay by 300's Kurt Johnstad. Act of Valor will feature a squad of Navy SEALs (the acronym stands for SEa, Air and Land Teams, and was clearly crafted by people with little interest in acronyms… Doesn't 'Navy SALT' also make sense? Aren't sailors often called 'salts?') on a mission to rescue a CIA operative and, you know, stop terrorists. Vulture reports that "the movie will feature combat sequences composited from actual events in the lives of the men appearing in the film." That sounds kinda neato.
Act of Valor also stars Without a Trace's Roselyn Sanchez, who either isn't a Navy SEAL or is deep, deep undercover.
Crave Online will be back with more Act of Valor news as soon as we… Oh! Navy SEALs!
